Unlike most dental specialty practices, we bill exclusively through medical insurance. Orofacial pain and dental sleep medicine conditions are medical conditions, and we believe they should be covered as such.
Why Medical Insurance?
The conditions we treat, including TMJ disorders, chronic facial pain, sleep apnea, headache, and neuropathic pain, fall within the scope of medical care rather than routine dental care.
Medical insurance typically provides meaningful coverage for evaluation, diagnostic imaging, and treatment of these conditions. Billing through medical insurance helps patients access the type of coverage they would expect for any other medical specialty visit.
In-Network Plans
We are in-network with most major medical insurance carriers in Wisconsin. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider before your visit to verify your benefits and understand your specific coverage, deductible, and co-pay obligations.
As a courtesy, our billing team will also verify your insurance benefits before your visit and will work to help maximize your coverage whenever possible.
Prior Authorization
Some insurance plans require prior authorization before certain treatments, particularly for advanced imaging, physical therapy, and oral appliances used in sleep apnea management.
Our team handles the authorization process on your behalf and will communicate with you if additional information is needed.
