- Tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, or hissing), particularly when symptoms fluctuate with jaw movement or muscle tension
- Muffled hearing or a persistent clogged sensation after medical causes have been ruled out
Our Process
Before diagnosing a jaw-related source of ear symptoms, we recommend appropriate evaluation by your primary care physician or an otolaryngologist (ENT) to rule out infection, hearing disorders, and other primary ear conditions.
Once other causes have been excluded, we evaluate the jaw joints, chewing muscles, bite, and related structures to determine whether temporomandibular disorders or muscle dysfunction are contributing to your symptoms.
Treatment Options
When jaw dysfunction is identified as the source of ear symptoms, treatment is directed toward the underlying musculoskeletal condition rather than the ear itself. Depending on your diagnosis, treatment may include custom oral appliances, physical therapy, trigger point injections, Botox, medication management, and self-care strategies designed to reduce jaw muscle tension and improve joint function.
Many patients experience significant improvement once the true source of their symptoms is identified and treated appropriately.
