Headache Disorders We Diagnose & Manage
Tension-Type Headache (TTH)
Tension-type headache is the most common headache disorder worldwide and is frequently associated with jaw muscle dysfunction and orofacial pain. It often presents as a pressing or band-like pain across the temples, forehead, or back of the head. Treatment may include medication management, behavioral strategies, trigger point injections, Botox when appropriate, and treatment of contributing TMD.
Migraine
Migraine is a neurological condition characterized by moderate to severe headaches that may be accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light or sound, and visual disturbances. We diagnose migraine, initiate appropriate treatment when indicated, and coordinate care with neurology for patients requiring long-term specialty management.
Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias (TACs)
This group of headache disorders includes conditions such as cluster headache, paroxysmal hemicrania, and hemicrania continua. These disorders produce severe one-sided head pain along with symptoms such as tearing, nasal congestion, eyelid drooping, or facial swelling. We recognize these conditions, initiate treatment when appropriate, and coordinate care with neurology for ongoing management.
